What is YP Circle?
YP Circle is a career planning platform for young people, offering resources like skills assessment, career explorer, job application guide, mentors, and job opportunities. It simplifies career planning and helps young people reach their career goals.
The Mission
Young people in disadvantaged areas lack basic literacy and numeracy skills and proper career guidance, leading to low motivation and poor understanding of job application processes, CV creation, and interview preparation. These young people may also be unaware of opportunities and unable to identify their skillset.
The Outcome
The YP Circle platform is intuitive and user-friendly dashboard, providing a seamless experience for young people looking to plan their careers. The dashboard offers a range of features, including a skills assessment questionnaire, a comprehensive career explorer database, a job application guide, mentor connections, and a database of internships and job opportunities, all designed to simplify the career planning process and provide young people with the resources and support they need to reach their goals.

Discover Stage
Understanding the pain points and difficulties faced by young people in their career planning journey was critical in the design process. To gain this understanding, the team conducted research, including roundtable discussions with young people, schools, and businesses. The focus of the research was to identify the challenges faced by young people in creating a CV, finding employment, preparing for interviews, and expressing their self-worth. The research and discovery sessions provided valuable insights into the obstacles faced by young people and helped to shape the design of the platform.
Design Process
Define Stage
Using the insights gathered, the team developed a design proposition for a comprehensive digital platform addressing young people's career planning challenges. This stage was crucial in shaping the design direction and ensuring solutions met real-world needs. The platform was designed to provide resources such as skills assessments, career exploration tools, job application guides, mentorship opportunities, and job listings to simplify the career planning process and help young people reach their goals. This stage helped to lay the foundation for the development of the platform, ensuring that it would meet the needs and address the challenges faced by young people in their career planning journey.

Development Stage
During the development stage, multiple solutions were created and tested at a low-concept level to simulate functionality. User testing was conducted with young people to gather feedback on what worked and what didn't. The team utilised gamification in the design, taking into account current trends among young people. This approach helped to create an engaging and interactive platform that was well-received by users. The feedback gathered from user testing was used to refine and improve the solutions, ensuring that the platform met the needs of young people and effectively addressed their challenges in career planning.

The design and development phase brought the platform to life, resulting in a visually appealing and user-friendly interface.
